Ideal Space

  • Hospitals
  • Factories
  • Universities
  • 24-Hour Workplaces
  • Transport Hubs

Advisory first

Best for hospitals, factories, university campuses and 24-hour workplace sites where users need genuine fresh food (not just snacks) at the times canteens or cafes are closed, with HACCP-grade temperature control.

The Necta Gusto Drum (formerly known as the Necta Festival) is the refrigerated fresh food vending machine in the Necta lineup, designed specifically for sandwiches, salads, pies, plated meals, fruit and chilled bottles. Where snack vending machines target shelf-stable products with long ambient lives, the Gusto Drum is engineered to hold genuinely fresh food at HACCP-grade temperature with the audit trail to prove it. For sites where the alternative is users going off-site at unsocial hours or simply going without, the Gusto Drum is what 24/7 fresh food provision actually looks like.

Two shelf configurations cover most demand profiles. The 8-shelf variant fits tighter footprints and lighter-traffic sites; the 10-shelf adds capacity for high-traffic locations. Both ship with the R290 refrigerant variant as the current standard, which is a hydrocarbon refrigerant with significantly lower global warming potential than older HFC alternatives. For procurement teams whose ESG criteria include refrigerant choice, R290 is the right answer and worth specifying explicitly in tender documents.

The Gusto Drum is part of the Necta vending bank pattern: it pairs visually and operationally with the Gusto 8PRO (hot drinks) and Orchestra (snacks and cold drinks) so a multi-machine site looks coherent and shares a single payment terminal rather than three competing brands. Typical install sites are hospitals (where night-shift staff and visitors need food access), 24-hour factories and depots, university campuses, and large workplace amenity floors. We help you spec the right shelf count and refrigerant configuration based on your site's audit, traffic profile and local food supply arrangements.

In practice

Why this works for workplace teams

Genuine fresh food, audited

HACCP-grade temperature control with logging gives you the audit trail food safety compliance requires. For hospitals, university campuses, and regulated workplace sites, this is the difference between fresh food provision and a documentation problem.

R290 refrigerant as standard

The R290 variant uses hydrocarbon refrigerant with significantly lower global warming potential than older HFCs. For ESG-conscious procurement, it's a meaningful spec line and worth calling out explicitly in tender documents.

Banks with Gusto 8PRO and Orchestra

Gusto Drum is engineered to pair with the Gusto 8PRO (hot drinks) and Orchestra (snacks and cold drinks) for sites that want a coherent three-unit vending bank rather than mismatched machines from competing brands.

Common Necta Gusto Drum questions

Answers to what we're most often asked when scoping a rollout.

Snack machines target shelf-stable products with long ambient shelf lives: crisps, biscuits, chocolate. The Gusto Drum is refrigerated and designed for genuinely fresh food (sandwiches, salads, plated meals, fruit) with HACCP-grade temperature control and audit logging. The two are complementary rather than competing. Many sites bank a Gusto Drum next to a snack vending unit so users have both options.

R290 is a hydrocarbon refrigerant (propane-based) with significantly lower global warming potential than the HFC refrigerants used in older designs. The UK and EU are progressively phasing out high-GWP refrigerants in commercial refrigeration, and R290 is the current preferred alternative. For ESG-conscious procurement and future-proofing against refrigerant regulation, the R290 variant is the right specification.

Capacity. The 8-shelf variant fits tighter footprints and is appropriate for lighter-traffic sites or as a complement to other vending units. The 10-shelf adds capacity for high-traffic locations where refill cycles matter operationally. We help you spec based on your site audit (traffic profile, peak demand timing, refill cadence available from your food supply arrangements).

The Gusto Drum depends on a reliable fresh food supply chain, which is typically a daily or twice-daily refill from a local catering partner or in-house catering team. We can introduce you to UK partners experienced in fresh food vending supply, help spec rotation cycles, and configure the machine's HACCP logging so audit obligations are clean. Without a reliable refill arrangement, fresh food vending becomes an availability problem rather than a service.

Yes. UK food regulations (specifically Natasha's Law) require full ingredient and allergen labelling on prepacked food sold direct to consumers. Gusto Drum deployments include shelf-by-shelf labelling discipline as part of the operating model. The on-machine display can also show product information including allergens. We work with food supply partners who handle this end-to-end as part of their service.

Yes, that's the design intent. Gusto Drum, Gusto 8PRO (hot drinks) and Orchestra (snacks and cold drinks) share styling, payment systems and service architecture so a three-unit vending bank looks coherent and operates as one user-facing service rather than three competing machines. Many of our larger-site installs are this three-unit banked pattern.
